Just checking in here to say hello. I first picked up a guitar about 2 years ago, mostly as we had around 6 hanging around the house as my son is a singer/songwriter/guitar player and I wanted a new challenge in life.Had a year of lessons locally but didn't feel any inspiration. THEN my daughter's boyfriend moved in... a really decent guitarist... and the first time he played (Tarrega) I realised THAT was what I wanted to learn.
Tried a few online teaching sites, then came across Elite .. took me a while to commit but now I'm here and am loving learning again. Discovering that in my 50s I CAN learn to read 'real' music has been both frustrating and brilliant in equal measure, and having bought myself a fairly decent classical guitar, I am loving the learning process. Nothing quite beats the buzz of starting a new piece, thinking 'I can't DO that!' and then weeks (or months!) later, finding that my hands really can. Never going to be a Tavi, but I can keep working at it...
Hello Jules
I also started classical guitar 'again' during lockdown and have enjoyed the challenge of learning old and new pieces. I'm very impressed with this website and find that I can control the pace at which I learn....there's no pressure to have learned a certain amount ready for my next lesson...which is great. I also like that Tavi can be paused and rewound!...I don't often check in on this forum but its good to see others who love the sound of this genre of guitar music. Just finished learning Wild Mountain Thyme which is gorgeous...it'll take me a good while longer to get it flowing...good luck
