Barrios' La Catedral

in Classical Guitar

This post is dedicated to Agustin Barrios' most famous work and perhaps his best piece as well: "La Catedral"

Here's a short clip of me playing the first section of the third movement "Allegro Solemne". I was feeling pretty good at the end of a practice session recently and decided to just go for it! If you are playing the piece post a video of any section within the three movements and we can compare fingerings and approaches. Cheers!

This is mesmeric. I could only imagine the amount of work, which you've put in to get to this point. You're an exceptionally talented person and a constant source of inspiration. I have been learning from your tutorial on Bach's first cello suite for around 5 months now, and I've just reached bar 40. Your tutorial and advice, Benjamin Zander's masterclass on the same piece as well as Christoph Wolff's insight on Bach has really helped me to understand the piece.

It is quite a surreal thing how someone whom one has never met can have such a dramatic impact on one's life. You are doing that for me and countless others around the world and I want to thank you for your help and guidance. You are changing lives Taso, keep it up. Have a nice day. Mohsin
